The upcoming 2022 BMW X2 has been spied with updated styling. A plug-in hybrid model will also arrive in a short amount of time. New X2 will get improved styling, similar to the facelift of the X1 model. The Interior will get a significant tech boost.
The launch of this model has been scheduled for a second-half of the year. X2 won’t get a redesign as this SUV is in line for another mid-cycle refreshment. The prices will start at around $37,000 and X2 will rival Audi Q2, Volvo XC40, and Mercedes GLA.
The engine lineup should remain and the new 2022 BMW X2 will share its powertrains with BMW 1 Series. The manufacturer promised small improvements in terms of fuel efficiency and performance. Of course, X2 SUV is heavier so the fuel economy isn’t that good.
Still, gasoline engines are delivering around 40 mpg and diesel up to 50 mpg. An AWD system is available and it carries the xDrive badge. On the other hand, front-wheel-drive comes with the sDrive emblem.
In the coming months, BMW will introduce a plug-in hybrid version. The model will carry the name X2 xDrive25e. New 2022 BMW X2 Hybrid will get the same facelift as the regular model. It will deploy a 124HP gasoline engine with a 95hp electric motor and a 10kWh battery. The customers can expect quickness and better acceleration. A hybrid version will need 6.8 seconds to sprint from 0 to 62mph. An all-electric range has been rated at 35 miles.
2022 X2 Spy Shots
The X2 is basically a coupe version of the X1 model and it is the company’s smallest SUV. For that reason, a new 2022 BMW X2 will get the same upgrades. It is another mid-cycle refreshment for this model and the newest spy shots are the proof. This SUV will get a larger grille with the new shape of the LED daytime running lights.
The fog lamps are more rounded and it will also feature a LED technology. The same fog lights are now integrated into the lower air intakes. The lower grille seems to be wider than before and bumpers will get a complete redesign. BMW will likely offer new optional and larger wheels. The sportier M Sport trim level should follow the same way.
Interior Gets More Tech
The interior will gain some significant updates. The upcoming 2022 BMW X2 will get a new touchscreen functionality as a part of the iDrive infotainment system. That, the manufacturer will limit the changes but improvements of the upholstery are very certain. On the other hand, customers should expect a significant technology boost.
That includes further phone integrations, new safety kid, and various driver-assistance aids. The vehicle’s dimensions will remain so X2 SUV will offer the same interior room as before. If you are more frequently carry the adults, X1 is definitely a better choice. X2 model is smaller but its styling is better for sure.
2022 BMW X2 Price and Release Date
The price of the regular model will start at $37,000. That means the 2022 BMW X2 Hybrid will cost more, around $42,000. The German manufacturer will release its new model later in 2023. This model will continue to rival Mercedes GLA, Audi Q2, MINI Countryman, and new Volvo XC40.
