2022 Nissan Armada: Rumors, Refresh, Changes, Price. The body-on-frame, three-row SUVs continue to be in the shadow of smaller, more comfortable and affordable, unibody crossovers when it comes to sales charts but with several launches of all-new, truck-based SUVs for the 2022 model year they should get more attention from the public. GM’s models Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon will be all-new for the 2022 season but Nissan should also give some attention to its largest and body-on-frame Armada SUV. The 2022 Nissan Armada should arrive in the refreshed form with changes mimicking those on the global Patrol model and newest Titan trucks.

The Armada is basically a rebadged version of the global fast-selling Patrol SUV with some features suited for the US market. The Patrol was presented recently in the refreshed form and goes on sale as the 2020 version. Nissan refreshed also the Titan trucks and changes on these models should also be applied to the next Armada version.

We should get the next Armada with revised front and rear styling and upgraded interior. The model should also benefit from improved infotainment features and the addition of new standard equipment. At the performance level, the V-8 engine should slightly improve its hp and torque figures and comes with the new transmission system.

At the performance level, the 2022 Nissan Armada will again return with the familiar engine under the hood but it should come with the improved horsepower and torque figures and combined with the new transmission system.

A 5.6-liter V-8 engine paired with the 7-speed automatic transmission makes 390 hp and torque of 395 lb-ft in the current version. The next Armada should switch to the new 9-speed automatic gearbox and improve power and torque figures to 400 hp and 419 lb-ft respectively.

The model will again come with the rear- and four-wheel drive options. The fuel economy should stay close to the current 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. As a reference, the new Ford Expedition manages a 20 mpg highway. The towing capability should also stay close to the current 8, 500 pounds.

The profile of the model will continue in the same form while the rear should get slightly modified taillights and bumper. The refreshed version should also bring new wheel and body color options.

Interior, Equipment

The Nissan Armada gets high scores for interior quality and comfort. The model is comfortable in the first two rows while the third is good for kids. The cargo capacity is up to 95 cubic feet while with all seats in place measures 17 cubic feet.

As for the changes for the 2022 season, the model should come with an upgraded infotainment system, more standard equipment, and new material options. The model should get upgraded displays including a larger display in the instrument cluster and likely a new larger touchscreen option in the center stack. The infotainment systems should also benefit from upgraded responsiveness and features. Like the global Patrol, the Armada could also come with reconfigured HVAC controls.

The model will equip the brand’s safety suite of modern safety systems by default and there will be adaptive cruise control, active lane control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, etc.

More precise details about the refreshed 2022 Nissan Armada should appear in the next few months. The model should go on sale in late 2020. The price should see a slight increase across the trim range. The current version starts from $47,100.
