A hybrid unit is on the way. The RX is inspiring this move. Now, with the new drivetrain, the executive car will offer more options. Under the bonnet of the 2025 Lexus GS 350 buyers can find four different drivetrains. The least energy is coming from a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit. The GS can get 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. It sends power to rear wheels. With the standard setup, this engine returns more than 30 mpg on highways. However, in urban areas, fuel consumption jumps to 22 mpg.

A 3.5-liter V6 is the best combination of power and fuel economy. You can count on 310 hp and 280 lb-ft of a twist if you pick V6 engine. Standard configuration includes an eight-speed auto gearbox and a rear-wheel drive. Here, buyers can purchase the GS 350 with all-wheel drive. Together with it comes a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is worse than with a four-cylinder engine.

The final option is a 5.0-liter V8 engine. The most powerful and the least fuel-friendly option is delivering 470 horsepower. Still, combined consumption of 20 mpg is not so bad. Well, it is still better than some other premium rivals with huge displacements. The 2025 Lexus GS 350 sends power through an 8-speed transmission to rear wheels only. The driver can use manual controls with this model.

Hybrid Drivetrain

The 2025 Lexus GS 350 will borrow the hybrid drivetrain from its close sibling. The RX 450h is a mid-size three-row SUV that gets power from an electrified version of V6 engine the executive car is using. So, a 3.5-liter unit is the heart of the system. For the SUV it delivers 310 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. However, the basic setup creates 15 horsepower less than the same mill for GS 350. Also, the outputs of the petrol engine are downtuned for a hybrid variant. We will see what will engineers prepare for the executive car, but expect a boost of both fuel economy and power.
