The Hiroshima-based company plans to launch 2025 Mazda 6 in late 2025 or early 2025 with some groundbreaking changes. According to autoevolution.com there exist a possibility that new 6 sedans could come equipped with rear-wheel-drive.
They continue by saying that this switch will be a joint project between two huge Japanese car giants. Toyota and Mazda. These two will allegedly work on a shared FR platform which will be manufactured by Toyota. The same underpinnings will be what will lie under the much anticipated RX-9 sports car.
Wait, there’s more. The third party in this mixture will be a Munich-based giant, BMW, who recently worked with Toyota on Supra sports car. There is an option that CLAR platform will be applied on one of Mazda’s models.
All of this might be just mere speculations. Mazda is in the process of switching all of its vehicles in this class to SkyActiv-Body Gen 2 and SkyActiv Chassis Gen 2. They have already started with 2025 Mazda 3 model. The underpinnings that are used on 3 will be the same on the 2025 Mazda 6. With this knowledge, we, unfortunately, must exclude the possibility of RWD on this car. This option will just have to wait for RX-9.

Engine
With this development, the unit that will power 2025 6 will most likely be a 2.0-liter spark controlled compression engine. The option of a mild-hybrid powered by 48-volt battery remains on the table. Mazda will also showcase to the world a SkyActiv-D Gen 2 turbo diesel at the same time as the new Mazda 6 gets its release.
This means in 2025 or late 2025. 2018 Mazda 6 uses a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline 4-cylinder engine as its standard unit. Price
As far as the price goes, we can claim that it will be higher than what we have today in dealerships. The price went up with 2017 updates, and with groundbreaking changes that 2025 carries it will undoubtedly go up. The current model has an MSRP of $22,500 for the entry-level model. The mid-pack Touring trim costs $25,000 with additional $1,000 if you opt for an automatic transmission.
The Grand Touring comes in for $32,000, without Premium package which will set you back for additional $2,000 if you decide to pay for it. The edition that was introduced in 2017 is Signature which starts at $35,000. With prices like this Mazda 6 can smoothly go toe-to-toe with competitors such as Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima and Subaru Legacy.
