2025 Toyota Hilux Specs, Redesign, New Editions, & Photos. The virus outburst could postpone the premiere of the 2025 Toyota Hilux, but the company is working on updates. We know the upcoming version is going to introduce the tri-dimensional grille, which is just a part of the facelift. A new bumper and headlights will complete the update. The biggest change is happening under the hood. Well, the Hilux is not getting a hybrid engine. The existing lineup will be carried over, but some drivetrains will produce more power.
Hilux is one of the most popular trucks in the world, like its US sibling Tacoma. The Japanese company is well-known for its reliability and durability. Special versions are taking the offer to new levels. In this case, there are Rogue and rugged editions for the Australian market.

2025 Toyota Hilux Specs Enhancement
The biggest news about the 2025 Toyota Hilux is coming about the extra power under the hood. A 2.8-liter D-4D diesel unit is producing 200 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque, or 350 pound-feet if you select a manual transmission. This is a boost of 25 hp and nearly 40 lb-ft. This is the most popular option paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Other drivetrains are still there. The new Hilux will also get the power from a 2.4-liter displacement. However, 150 hp is not enough for most buyers.
A hybrid engine is also an option for the foreseeable future. We can read that Toyota gave up on the Tacoma diesel and the company turns to greener sources of power. At this point, we don’t have any details, but experts are sure that both mid-size trucks will get a hybrid unit soon.
Cosmetic Changes
Photos of the new 2025 Toyota Hilux are already available. The truck is not in production yet, so minor changes are possible. However, these won’t be big, like the ones on the render images. The front fascia carries the most modifications, with a new grille, headlights, and a few other details. Also, the side of a truck looks more muscular. Special versions for certain markets are not confirmed. We expect Rugged, Rugged X, and Rogue are expected to come back to Australia. Other markets might introduce their unique upgrades to the lineup.
Release Date
The 2025 Toyota Hilux will be out early next year. Like for many other vehicles and carmakers, the COVID-19 outburst spoiled plans and schedules of launching new vehicles. The truck will be out for sure, but the delay is certain. The new generation is not expected so soon, since we found out that the next-gen Tacoma is due for 2024. So, this might be the final big revisit of the pickup. The hybrid model could join the lineup as the biggest thing for the next two or three seasons.
Toyota will find familiar brands as rivals to its Hilux. Ford Ranger is the truck for both US and the rest of the world. Then, there is Mitsubishi Triton/L200, which will share a platform with Mazda BT-50. Nissan Navara and VW Amarok are also rivals in some markets.
